Sharon was delighted to be invited to Aachen – familiar turf for Sharon (where she competed at WEG 2006 and 2007 CCIO Nations Cup) – to take part in a coach development scheme. Sharon very much enjoyed soaking up the atmosphere as well as paying detailed attention to the warm up and performance strategies employed by the top dressage riders – including her own dressage trainer Emile Faurie. Sharon recalls: “I was fascinated to watch the varying types of styles – some choosing relaxed long and low work and some keeping them up to the bridle for the whole 30-40 minutes.”
Continually gaining knowledge and experience everyday not only improves Sharon’s performance as a rider but also as a coach; as such the trip to Aachen was a hugely fruitful and insightful on both fronts. Sharon explains: “The whole experience has inspired me – for my own riding and coaching. I am very grateful for the opportunity to go to Aachen.”
