Sharon has produced numerous horses throughout her successful career as an eventer. The most famous horse she’s produced – from four-year-old onwards – is probably her own Tankers Town on whom she competed in the 2008 Olympics and also won the coveted CCI 4* in Luhmuhlen (2010), as well as having successes at Badminton and Burghley.
What might be a lesser known fact is that Tankers Town (or Jasper) is not the only horse produced by Sharon to have been selected for the Olympics. Kenny, produced by Sharon, was selected for the London 2012 Olympics for the Brazilian team although he ultimately, sadly, he was not able to make it. Romeo Z, another lovely horse produced by Sharon, happily went on to a home with a junior rider and subsequently won team gold and then Young Riders with same rider, as well as bringing home a further team bronze.
Getting horses working to the best of their ability is only part of the story, Sharon also works hard to help riders who take on horses she’s produced to ensure that the combination gels and both perform to the best level possible.
One example is Carol Stuart (pictured with Mac), who shares her experiences of taking on a horse produced by Sharon: “I was recommended to Sharon when I was looking for my new horse by a friend. I can honestly say meeting Sharon and buying Mac from her has been the most fantastic experience. 1. Mac is 100% what Sharon said he was; 2. She has been there to help and support if I ever needed her; and 3. She has helped me, as a novice rider, to improve my riding. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her either as someone to buy a horse from or to train with. You won’t regret it.”
